Meet the Spirits 2018 – A Great Success!

The Spirits came to life last fall at the biennial Meet the Spirits at Columbia Cemetery event, jointly sponsored by Historic Boulder Inc. and the City of Boulder Parks and Recreation Department. An amazing cast of 26 “characters” (representing a fascinating cross section of our Pioneers) telling their stories, a most beautiful autumn Sunday afternoon and a crew of enthusiastic volunteers combined to make this the best Meet the Spirits to date! Thank you to all the neighbors who participated in this wonderful event.

Attended by over 700 adults and children, the event raised $9,600, resulting in a $4,800 contribution to the “PLAY Boulder Foundation” the official non-profit partner that holds the cemetery preservation funds that support the on-going conservation efforts at the Cemetery. The other half of the net proceeds go to Historic Boulder for their significant leadership in this event. These funds are used as cash matches for the State Historic Fund grants that have funded hundreds of thousands of dollars for the Columbia Cemetery conservation work over the past 25 years.

SPECIAL THANKS to the following sponsors: TEBO PROPERTIES, Bob and Francine Myers, Gold Hill Store and Pub, Growing Tips LLC, DANNIK’S Gunbarrel Corner Bar, Alpine Modern Café’, BLACKWOOD & Company Urban Design and Planning and UNIVERSITY HILL NEIGHBORHOOD ASSOCIATION.

The preservation of Columbia Cemetery depends on contributions (www.bouldercolorado.gov/columbia-cemetery) from the entire community to ensure the continued preservation of this community treasure, reflecting the community’s desire to honor our historic pioneers and maintain a place of memory, beauty and peace for quiet reflection and enjoyment of nature. Please consider making a contribution.
