NEIGHBORHOOD CONNECTIONS GRANT PROGRAM: Beanne Rothenberg
New neighborhood grant program. Beanne provided update on Neighborhood Grant Opportunities. Although there are several grant categories, including a Block Party Fund, Spark Grants, and Enhancement Grants ($2500 to $10,000), the SPARK GRANT amount has been increased from a maximum of $1,000 (last year) to a maximum of $2,500 this year. UHNA was awarded a Spark grant last year. The application process is fairly straightforward.
Another change in the grant program is that this year the grants will be a direct disbursement of the amount requested instead of using our own funds and then applying for reimbursement of money spent.
Goal of Grants is to increase opportunities for neighbors to meet and get together, to build community, and to support events and projects that enhance our neighborhoods.
Some ideas included: reinstituting the Beach Park Neighborhood Picnic, Competition of Student neighbors to reward the “best student neighbor houses”. Beanne will post a message on NextDoor.com to elicit other Grant ideas from Hill residents.
More information about the grant opportunities as well as application materials can be found at bouldercolorado.gov/neighborhoods.
