  • NEIGHBORHOOD CONNECTIONS GRANT PROGRAM: Beanne Rothenberg

  • New neighborhood grant program. Beanne provided update on Neighborhood Grant Opportunities. Although there are several grant categories, including a Block Party Fund, Spark Grants, and Enhancement Grants ($2500 to $10,000), the SPARK GRANT amount has been increased from a maximum of $1,000 (last year) to a maximum of $2,500 this year. UHNA was awarded a Spark grant last year. The application process is fairly straightforward.

  • Another change in the grant program is that this year the grants will be a direct disbursement of the amount requested instead of using our own funds and then applying for reimbursement of money spent.

  • Goal of Grants is to increase opportunities for neighbors to meet and get together, to build community, and to support events and projects that enhance our neighborhoods.

  • Some ideas included: reinstituting the Beach Park Neighborhood Picnic, Competition of Student neighbors to reward the “best student neighbor houses”. Beanne will post a message on NextDoor.com to elicit other Grant ideas from Hill residents.

  • More information about the grant opportunities as well as application materials can be found at bouldercolorado.gov/neighborhoods.

  • Other Business:

  • Possible dates for March EC meeting: TBD (Lori can’t host in March. Will check in with Karina to see if the Academy could host our March EC meeting.) NOTE: 23 March – 1 April is Spring Break.

  • UPCOMING HILL HOTEL CONCEPT DESIGN PRESENTATION: The Commercial arm of the HRWG (Hill Reinvestment Working Group) will be sponsoring a presentation to the neighborhood on Thursday 15 March 2018. Location: The Hilltop Building. From 5:30-7:00 pm

  • ADU – Follow progress of proposed revisions to the ADU Ordinance.

  • Follow up with BHARA. Map the rental properties, student move-in mid-August,. Potential for one of EC members to attend BHARA meeting and present concerns. Be proactive.

  • Harbeck House Status: Museum of Boulder will be moving out of Harbeck House this summer. HH is managed by the Parks Department. Invitation extended to Parks Department to write article for spring newsletter and attend UHNA Spring General Meeting.

  • Emerald Ash Borer (EAB): Over 30% of all trees in Boulder are Ash trees. The majority will succumb to the EAB. Invite Kathleen Alexander (head of CoB Forestry Department) to speak to the group or share information that we can put up on our Website.

  • Strategize Fundraising Ideas.
