Meet the Spirits at Columbia Cemetery
It hardly seems possible, but 30+ Spirits will rise from their grave for just 5 hours at Columbia Cemetery this coming Sunday October 16th from NOON to 5:00 pm to tell their stories!
Meet the Spirits will resurrect more than 30 of Boulder’s most dearly departed. Travel back in time to meet some of Columbia Cemetery’s most prominent, and permanent residents, portrayed by costumed members of the community. Eben G. Fine, James P. Maxwell, Mary Rippon and Dorothy Gay Howard (Jane Doe) are just a few of the spirits who will rise from their graves to tell their stories for just one afternoon. There will also be vintage hearses, mourners, funeral music and a Masonic burial re-enactment by Columbia Lodge #14.
Attendees can also learn about Green Burial by Natural Transitions, The Buffalo Soldier Story, enjoy tea leaf readings by Psychic Horizons, watch grave marker restoration demonstrations, hear about the historic shed renovation and participate in a children’s cemetery scavenger hunt.
Proceeds benefit Columbia Cemetery preservation and Historic Boulder Inc.
